During the rainy season, some resorts are renovating their rooms, bungalows, garden and so on. This is the case of T.P. Hut Bungalows in Pearl beach which has installed new roofs, new ceilings and other improvements for all their bungalows.

A new Bar/Restaurant has just been added to the website. Salt Beach Bistro is a new place in Kai Bae with a beautiful seaview, a swimming-pool opened to the customers, a Brunswick pool table, a bar, a restaurant and a great atmosphere.
Opened daily from 11 am to 10 pm, inside Coral Resort!

Today there has been a "Red tide" in Kai Bae beach. This phenomenon also known as algae bloom (large concentrations of aquatic microorganisms) which happens during the rainy season is not very common in Koh Chang. This bloom creates dark red or brown colour patches on the sea near the surface.
Some red tides are associated with the production of natural toxins, depletion of dissolved oxygen or other harmful effects, and are generally described as harmful algae blooms which kills the marine life.
It's better to not swim there and wait it goes away.

Cloudy, windy or rainy, it doesn't matter, there are still some things to do in Koh Chang.

Klong Prao which is located on the west coast between White Sand beach and Kai Bae has the longest sandy beach of Koh Chang and a village with few attractions but also lots of resorts, hotels, restaurants, a waterfall, 3 elephant camps, a temple, supermarkets, drugstores, ... all what you need during your holidays. The busy village is the complete opposite of the beach which is very quiet, even during the high season.

After the bomb blasts which happened last Thursday and Friday in Hua Hin, Phuket, Phang-Nga, Trang and Surat Thani, the security level has been increased in attractions places as well as at the pier on the mainland even if suspects have been arrested and the Police said that conditions have returned to normal.
According to the Bangkok Post, "Authorities pursue theory that anti-regime elements were behind the deadly coordinated bombings and arson attacks that rocked the South and Hua Hin".
This weekend 2 persons have drowned in Koh Chang. On Saturday a 55 years old German man died in Klong Prao beach when he swam to bring back his son to the shore. The son came back alive but not his father.
And on Sunday, a 19 years old British girl also drowned at White Sand beach.
It's the rainy season and the sea is dangerous with strong waves and currents. If there are red flags, it's for a good reason.
When you see red flags on the beach, stay away from the sea and do not try your luck. Don't risk your life and life of rescuers.
I will end today's update with a very good news.
Lots of you have heard or know Thaifun and then the famous Noknoi and Watchara, aka Wat :)
Last Friday was Mother's Day here in Thailand and Noknoi gave birth to a 3,02 kg cute little girl named Mali which means Jasmine because Jasmine is the flower of the Queen and it also refers to Mother's Day.
Mali is healthy and her parents, Noknoi and Wat are very happy, everything went very well.
You will be able to see Noknoi and Wat again when Thaifun season will start beginning of November.

Pajamas Koh Chang, a cosy hostel from the north of Klong Prao, has received its first TripAdvisor award thanks to their hard work and to the satisfaction of their guests. It has been added to my TripAdvisor Award 2016 list.
And on top of that, it's ranked number 1 by TripAdvisor in Koh Chang lodgings.
If you are planning your holidays in Koh Chang and if you are still wondering where to stay, have a look at the lists I have done. There is the TripAdvisor Awards 2016 list and my own Recommendation list which are both reliable places that I like. Some are even in both list.

Another resort has been added to my recommendation list. Bhumiyama Beach Resort is a small 4-star resort with rooms and bungalows spread in a tropical garden and located directly on the sandy part of Lonely beach.
The restaurant and the multi-level swimming-pool are facing the sea which are very good places to enjoy sunsets.
This is also a resort where you can organise your wedding or spend your honeymoon. Contact them in advance and they will arrange everything for you.

The weather is grey in Koh Chang.
This week we got showers and sun. It's raining for 15 minutes then the sun is shining again. And even if it's raining, the weather is still warm, so if you are in Koh Chang right now, or planning to come soon, don't let the rain spoil your holidays. There are still plenty of things to do.

Lots of resorts are taking advantage of the low season to renovate their buildings, rooms, garden, swimming-pool and so on.
Kai Bae Beach Resort is one of them and this month they have finished to renovate their Garden View Bungalows.
If you planning your next holidays in Koh Chang, have a look at my recommendation list. The list is growing slowly like I don't want to add any place which doesn't fit to my level of expectations :) To make it simple, I wouldn't recommend a place where I wouldn't like to go myself, which means dirty, not safe, bad atmosphere, staff not helpful, bad location, over-priced, bad quality of the services offered,.... I know, I'm exigent ;)
On my list you can find all the information you need to get the right picture of the place: location on the map, description of the resort, what kind of rooms or bungalows they have, what do you get in each room, shops and restaurants around, services proposed and the different links to their webpage, Facebook page, contact information and booking websites to see the best rates you can get.
And of course, if you need any help you can always contact me!

My favourite beach is Klong Prao beach, the longest sandy beach of the island but also one of the less crowded of the west coast during the high season. And on the north part of this beach, also called Chai Chet beach, is one of my favourite resorts which is Koh Chang Paradise Resort & Spa.
This resort has one of the longest beach front and has been awarded for several years by TripAdvisor. There are different types of bungalows spread in a beautiful tropical garden. The swimming-pool is at less than 10 meters from the beach but the gems of this resort are the Pool Villas. Each villa has its own private pool as you can guess from the name but they are also surrounded by a wooden fence for your own privacy.
